Village Plan

At a recent Parish Council meeting is was decided by the Council to adopt a Village Plan, a concept that has been adopted by many surrounding villages and from the feed back we have received, from not only those Parishes, but also the District Council, once it has been adopted, IT WORKS!

The 'Puxton Village Plan' will be our community's 'VISION FOR THE FUTURE'. It sets out how the natural and rural character of Puxton and its residents should be progressing, bringing with it a sense of community.

Through consultation with those who live and work in the village, the Plan will address matters of greatest concern to residents, and gives the village a collective voice. It will outline actions we can undertake as a community alone or with assistance from others.

Although it cannot dictate national or local government policy, it can make a positive contribution to debates about wider issues such as the environment, transport and roads, youth, local housing & planning initiatives, health & welfare and leisure. It also has the potential to influence powerful forces that impact upon village life, such as Councils, planners, developers and traders.

The village plan is not intended to be 'set in stone', nor detail every move and project planned for the village, but more a route-plan which provides direction for the Community as a whole to use and develop the thinking further, thereby delivering what is required and making the plan a reality.

The plan will be originated from the ideas, views and comments gleaned from a forthcoming survey feedback of you all, and will not represent the thoughts of any one person or group within the village. It is likely that not all of the suggested actions/possible projects will meet with everyone's approval, maybe a reflection of the increasing diversity in the village population? Similarly, some of the ideas may well represent change, something which is never undertaken lightly or without debate.

We are actively seeking ideas, views, opinions and suggestions from residents within the Parish boundary to compile the plan with a view to eventually submitting it to the District Council for adoption.

This will not be something that will be formulated quickly as many factors have to be taken into consideration not least of all yours, the community's involvement, and as such this is likely to take some time, but from time to time we will publish our progress on the website for your information and may in fact arrange a Village meeting to discuss this as well as other matters that concern YOU, the Parishioners, in the future, once we have some ideas put forward to discuss openly and frankly.
